Description: The Library Director provides professional leadership in planning, organizing and directing the Pettigrew Regional Library System under the general review of the Regional Library Board. The employee works to meet staffing, materials, technology, and facility needs for the four county libraries in the Pettigrew Regional Library System. In order to meet those needs, the director is expected to apply for grants, to supplement the budgets of the four libraries. The regional director’s duties also include making recommendations to the governing board regarding hiring, promotion or dismissal of management-level employees of the Pettigrew Regional Library System. The director needs to maintain an excellent working relationship with the Local Board members, the Regional Board members and county managers in each county. Must maintain professional relationships with the staff of the State Library of North Carolina, and the North Carolina Public Library Directors’ Association.

Qualifications: A master’s degree in library science from an ALA-accredited library school, five years of professional library experience, with at least three years of administrative or supervisory responsibility with public library experience preferred. Administrative or management experience and eligibility for certification by the NC Librarian Certification Committee necessary. Previous experience as a Library Director preferred. Excellent oral and written communication abilities and management skills are expected. Proficiency in database searching, internet searching, library –related software and Microsoft Office programs. Must be able to plan and direct staff engaged in all library functions. A commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.

Salary: $64,958.00-$71,623.00
