Since 1812, the State Library of North Carolina has helped people and libraries across the state grow, learn, and thrive

The State Library has three main parts:

Accessible Books and Library Services: Offers books, materials, and equipment for people who can’t use regular print due to a visual or physical disability.
Government & Heritage Library: Helps people explore North Carolina’s history, culture, and family roots with a wide range of resources.
Library Development: Supports libraries across the state with expert advice, training, grants, and funding.

The State Library of North Carolina is part of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.
