How can you safeguard your next weeding initiative and keep it from making local headlines? The evaluation process requires understanding your library’s goals and target audiences, budget constraints, and community needs. In addition, the properly managed weeding project has steps to ensure that books pulled from the collection are treated as potential assets, not just trash. As with most projects, good planning is key.

The Emergency Broadband Benefit is a temporary program that provides a discount of up to $50 or $75 per month to lower the cost of broadband service for low-income households. To help spread the word in North Carolina communities, the State Library is offering an information session for front-line staff. Attendees will receive an overview of the program, who’s eligible, how individuals can sign-up, and practical outreach strategies and materials. The session will end with an opportunity to ask questions. This session is open to anyone who interacts with low-income households that might benefit from the program.
